Overview:
This project will show you how to build a wine cork bulletin board. Create a stylish addition to your kitchen organization center with this fun and easy project using discarded wine corks and labels from favorite vintages.
Materials: wooden picture frame to match your kitchen décor, or smooth wooden frame that you can decorate with wine labels, several dozen wine bottle corks, several dozen wine bottle labels, craft glue, foam core, picture hanging wire and attachments Tools You'll Need: 10ft. or 25ft. tape measure, 4-in-1 level, quick change utility knife Before You Begin: Remove the glass and cardboard from the frame. Measure the frame and cut a piece of foam core to fit into back of frame (replacing the glass).
Barbara's Tips:
For a wine-themed frame, simply soak wine bottles in water until you can gently peel off the label. Place labels flat to dry. Apply dry labels to a smooth wooden frame using white glue craft glue. Smooth each label in place and overlap them to cover the entire frame.

Step 1: Lay the Groundwork
Place the piece of pre-cut foam core into the back of the frame. Turn the frame over, and using a pencil, lightly trace around the inside edge of the frame on the foam core. This will ensure that the finished corkboard fits inside the frame. Step 2: Plan the Design
Use your utility knife to cut the wine corks in half lengthwise. Plan each cut so an interesting design element shows on the cork. Lay flat side of corks on foam core using a staggered design to make a brickwork pattern. Remember to keep the corks inside the pencil line. When you have an attractive pattern, use glue to attach the corks to the foam core. Fill in gaps around the edges with small pieces of cork so no foam core shows. Step 3: Frame and Hang
Place the cork-covered foam core into the back of the frame and secure. Attach hangers and wire. Voila! A beautiful and useful memo board and you did it yourself!
