Overview:
This project will show you how to hang party lanterns outdoors. There is nothing more festive than bright party lanterns to light up and outdoor party or dinner. And you can decorate your yard or patio in under 15 minutes.
Materials: nails, hooks Tools You'll Need: 7oz. or 16oz. hammer, 3-way staple gun

When stringing lights or lanterns, secure the wiring to a tree, fence, or side of a building every 4 to 6 feet. Gently tug the wire to take up any slack.

Step 1: Advance Planning
Decide where you want the lanterns to go. Find a starting point close to your electrical source so you don't have to use long lengths of extension cord. Plan where you will use hooks, nails or staples to support the lantern strings. Step 2: Hang
Once you have determined your starting point, hold the string of lights up to the fence, house or tree and staple the wires to the surface. Hang the lanterns high enough that guests can walk underneath. Step 3: Fasten Securely
Be careful not to staple through the wires. If it does, remove the staple and redo. If the staples are not holding the wires in place, use a 2" nail and hammer it halfway in, then bend the nail up with the hammer and loop the wires over the top side of the nail. You should secure the wires every 4 to 6 feet, gently pulling them to take up any slack. Step 4: Let the Party Begin
Plug in the lights and enjoy the festivities. Your yard looks great and you did it yourself!
