Overview:
This project will show you how to patch a gutter leak. If when it rains, it pours right down the side of your house, that is then you have a leaky gutter. To protect your house from water damage, it's time to take to a ladder and plug that leak.
Materials: ladder, steel wool, metal flashing, asphalt flashing cement or gutter patch, caulk, disposable plastic gloves Tools You'll Need: 6-in-1 putty knife Before You Begin: Safety First - Make sure the ladder is secure. Make sure the gutter is clean and free of debris.
Barbara's Tips:
If your gutters are leaking at the seams, you can try to clean the area and apply caulk to the seams. If this doesn't work, take the gutter apart at the leaky connector, clean and apply caulk as you reassemble the pieces.

Step 1: Prep
Scrub the inside of the gutter around the leak with steel wool. Cut the metal flashing into a patch a little larger than the area you want to cover. Step 2: Patch
Using a putty knife, coat the back of the patch with the adhesive (asphalt cement or gutter patch) and press it firmly into place. Smooth any excess away from the edges with your gloved finger (these adhesives can be difficult to clean without solvents, so don't forget to wear gloves!) Step 3: Pour
Don't worry if it does! Your gutter will do its job and your house will stay dry. You did it yourself!
