How to Replace a Showerhead Recommended Skill Level:

Overview:

This project will show you how to replace a showerhead. Nothing beats a luxurious shower. A new showerhead is an effortless way to transform the look and feel of your bathroom.

Materials:

new showerhead

Tools You'll Need:

8" slip joint pliers

Before You Begin:

Make sure your shower floor is dry before starting your project to ensure that you don't slip!

Barbara's Tips:

Keep your new showerhead looking new. Using a cloth or rag under the pliers will protect the fittings when you remove and attach the showerhead.

Step 1: Off With Your Head
When removing the old showerhead, wrap the showerhead pipe stem with a piece of cloth or rag to protect the finish. Using the pliers, twist off the old showerhead (counterclockwise), while holding the shower pipe stem.

Step 2: Stop Leaks
Wrap the thread sealant tape around the threads at the end of the pipe stem two or three times.

Step 3: The Spa Treatment
Using a cloth under the pliers to protect the new showerhead fitting, screw on the new showerhead (clockwise) until tight. Stand back, turn on the water, and test for leaks. You've earned that hot shower. You installed it yourself!
