Step 1: Time
Remove the old thermostat from the wall and disconnect the wires. Wires should be color-coded, if not, mark the wires, using masking tape to label them to match the corresponding terminals of the new thermostat. Step 2: Time for a Change
Position the mounting plate of the new thermostat flush against the wall. Align using the level and mark screw holes with a pencil. Using your 6-in-1 screwdriver, carefully secure the mounting plate to the wall using the supplied screws. Attach the wires from the old thermostat to the correct terminals of the new thermostat (as per wiring diagram enclosed with new thermostat). Step 3: Time to Finish Up
Set the fuel switch on the back of the new thermostat to either "F" for gas or "E" for electric heat, if required by manufacturer. Install batteries and attach the case to the mounting plate and latch it into position. Step 4: Time for a New Program
Set the temperature to automatically regulate your home's temperature while you are away, asleep or even on weekends. The owner's manual will have detailed instructions for how to program your new thermostat. No more over- or under-heating, you did it yourself!
