Overview:
This project will show you how to fix a sticky door. As your home settles, doors may sometimes rub on their trim and stick. A door that's hard to shut or open is an annoyance, but it's simple to fix.
Materials: sand paper, carbon paper, varnish, tack cloth Before You Begin: : Figure out exactly where the door is sticking by placing a sheet of carbon paper inky side out over the doorframe where the problem occurs. Now shut the door. Examine the door carefully the ink will transfer to the spots that need to be sanded.
Barbara's Tips:
Make sure you take the time to seal or paint the spot you sanded, no matter how small. A finish coat will protect the edge of the door and keep it from absorbing moisture and swelling in humid weather.

Step 1: Smooth it Out
Sand the inky areas of the door's edge, extending your sanding well past the area that is sticking. Step 2: Dust it Off
Using tack cloth, clean the door edge and check that the edge you sanded is smooth. Step 3: Seal and Polish
Apply several thin coats of varnish or paint to match the original finish. Wait for varnish or paint to dry and shut the door. It should easily shut and open without sticking. You did it yourself!
