Overview:
This project will show you how to repair a ceiling fan. Ceiling fans are a great, low-energy way to cool your home, but at times, they may become noisy or shaky. You can easily fix this problem in a few simple steps.
Tools You'll Need: 6-in-1 interchangeable screwdriver, 6" long nose pliers, 10ft. or 25ft. tape measure Before You Begin: Determine the problem. If there is a loose screw near the electrical box, turn off the electricity before attempting a repair. Check the fan blades to make sure they are not loose. Check the connection between the rod and the body of the fan. Examine the ceiling mounting. Tighten all loose screws. If the fan still wobbles or is noisy, you may need to realign the fan blades.
Barbara's Tips:
Take precautions when working with electricity. Always turn off the electricity when working on or near the electrical box of a ceiling fan or light fixture – even if you're just planning to tighten some screws.

Step 1: Check the Alignment
Measure the distance from the blades to the ceiling. It is important that all blades are on the same plane. Hold one end of the measuring tape at the ceiling, while manually rotating each blade past it to check the distance. Step 2: Correct the Alignment
If a blade is not level, or equally distant to the other blades, try to gently bend that blade back into place. It is easier to do this if someone else can help by holding the fan steady as you gently manipulate the blade. Step 3: Everything is Cool
Turn the fan back on and observe to be sure the wobble is corrected. Your ceiling fan can now silently cool the room. And you fixed it yourself!
